Cool Pumpkin Carving Easy and Scary Idea Skulls

If you love spooky Halloween decorations, you'll love these creepy skull pumpkin carving patterns.

These free stencils are all unique designs that are printable pdf files.

While these skulls are pretty scary, and we have many intricate designs requiring a high skill level, we also have quite a few easy designs for kids or novice carvers.

How to Use The Skull Free Pumpkin Carving Templates?

First, you'll need a pumpkin, so head to your local pumpkin patch and choose a pumpkin.

Next, turn on one of your favorite movies with a Halloween horror theme and grab some candy corn.

Now that the mood is set, prepare your pumpkin by removing the top and scooping out the seeds.

Don't forget you can hang on to those pumpkin seeds to bake in the oven for a snack later.

Once the pumpkin is prepped for carving, scroll through our list of skull pumpkin carving patterns and choose your favorite.

Then just click on the image to print it out or download it to your computer.

Now it's best to have already chosen your pumpkin before you print because you may need to scale the design to fit the size of your pumpkin. This is very easy to do.

For instance, if you have a small pumpkin, you will probably need to reduce the size to 70-90%.

Press print, then your printer dialog box will pop up, and depending on the brand of printer, there will be a box that says "scale." You can increase or decrease this to the proper size.

After you have your printout, you're ready to carve your pumpkin.

Simply tape the paper to the side of the pumpkin. I like using blue tape.

But first, I find it also helps bend the paper around the pumpkin more easily if you make small tears in the corners.

The grey is what will be carried, so outline the edges using a thumbtack.

Just push the tack through the paper following the grey edges.

Once you have your outline, you can use a sharpie or a ballpoint pen to trace the tack marks.

Then use a kitchen knife, linoleum cutters, or an official pumpkin carving kit to detail your work of art.
